Do I have to see my doctor to use Astrix™ capsules?

Astrix™ capsules are available at Australian pharmacies but should only be taken after seeking advice of your doctor. Your doctor will advise you whether using Astrix™ capsules as part of an overall program to manage the risk of heart attack or stroke is suitable for you.

For how long should I take Astrix™ capsules?

Astrix™ capsules are used to prevent or protect against heart disease and stroke and should only be taken under a doctor’s supervision. Astrix™ capsules are usually taken for a long period of time. Please visit your doctor on a regular basis to monitor your condition.

When should I stop taking Astrix™ capsules?

Astrix™ capsules are usually taken for a long period of time as part of an overall program to manage the risk of heart attack or stroke. Your doctor will continue to monitor your condition and advise what is appropriate for you.

Can I take Astrix™ capsules without food?

Yes. As each pellet in an Astrix™ capsule has an enteric-coating this helps to prevent aspirin from dissolving in the stomach, thus avoiding stomach upset that can occur more commonly with regular uncoated aspirin. However, we do recommend that you take Astrix™ capsules with a meal to help you remember. 

Are Astrix™ capsules lactose free?

Yes, Astrix™ capsules are completely free from lactose.

Do Astrix™ capsules only come in a 100mg dose?

Yes, as this is the low-dose strength required to prevent blood platelets from sticking together. Regular or extra strength aspirin formulas are generally used for pain and headache relief.

Are Astrix™ capsules free from dyes?

Yes, Astrix™ capsules do not contain tartrazine or any other dyes.

Do Astrix™ capsules contain gluten?

Yes, Astrix™ capsules contain wheat starch (gluten).
